Slackware 8.1 Installation

Hi Guys,

I'm a n00b installing Slackware, I'm installing it on an AMD 450 MHz with a 4 Gb drive. How much space should I use as Swap and how much as ext3 ?

Thanks.

You'll get answers in every range, it's a preference thing.

It would help to know how much RAM you have though.

My tips on swapfile size: Desktop use no more than 200 megs ever, Server use.. well that depends on how many users and what apps you'll be running.. But you shouldn't ever go by the old thumb rule anymore of double the ram.. its an outdated rule these days.

I had a FTP and NFS server with only 64 megs of RAM and it never touched its swap file which I made 200 megs.. if that tells you anything.
