Slackware 14.2: trouble configuring Intel video card

Hi,

I just installed Slackware 14.2 32-bit on a Dell Optiplex 330 to give it a spin. Surprisingly I'm having some trouble configuring the Intel video card, as this is usually a hassle-free piece of hardware.

Code:
root@amandine:~# lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0a)
Usually this card requires the 'i915' module to be added explicitly to the initrd, and of course to use the generic kernel. Other than that, no further configuration steps are required.

I've configured Intel video cards on hundreds of machines without the slightest problem. Now all I get is what looks like an 800x600 vesa driver style resolution.

CHANGES_AND_HINTS.txt doesn't say anything specific about this.

Any suggestions?

Niki

sorry if I state something somewhat obvious, but have you tried not including related modules into the initrd?

Looks like it was related to that and the fact that the new Intel drivers don't play well with the Framebuffer. On Slackware 14.1, video=1024x768 worked well. On 14.2, startx results in a black screen.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks Matteo.
