Hi,

I will be updating a copy of the OP after the release of Slackware 14.1 in a new post within this thread.

Sheesh, why was the topic changed? Is 14.1 out?!

Not yet.
But it's getting closer and closer to release.

From current changelog;After some testing we should see the new 14.1 so the original thread topic title was changed then a related post will provide users with more information.

Just trying to be prepared for another beautiful Slackware release. :)

It threw me as well. I don't think the topic itself should be changed before the release has actually happened.

Your choice!

I have a lot on my platter and want to stay ahead of things. Members who use Slackware actively are fully aware of the situation with the release candidates and to expect testing until stable is released.

Actually it is your choice to make more work for yourself. You aren't forced to do it. I presume you want to do it to help out but in this case are you helping?

You could either have left it until 14.1 was released or save yourself the trouble going forward by removing the version number from the title. The way you have done it only leads to confusing old and new users. It makes little sense to have the first thread in the official Slackware forums mention torrents that do not yet exist, for a Slackware version that has not been released.

P.S. Slackware 14 had 5 release candidates (as did Slackware 13.37 FWIW), plus a fair number of updated packages after the last RC and before the final release, or to put it another way it took over a month for Slackware 14 to go from RC2 to final release. IMHO, you jumped the gun on this one.

I see we are up to RC3 now by the way.

I'm betting armstice (11/11/2013 as the date for release).

I say if not very soon then after the next kernel merge. unless he keeps kernel 3.12 in testing. not sure 3.11 3.12 have caused me more work than I want going to stay with the 3.10 till nvidia catches up or until my new machine I am slowly putting together gets a new AMD graphics.

There are two ways to interpret that date and they are roughly a month apart.

I presume (since you are from West Virginia) you are referring to 2013-11-12? On an international forum I would personally stick with ISO 8601 standard date formatting to avoid confusion. Of course once you do so, you realise the number of that date is not particularly fun or interesting anymore. :(

Actually now I think of it, there are three ways (in Kenya yy/mm/dd is apparently acceptable). Though admittedly, I think we would have noticed by now if Slackware 14.1 had come out on the 13th day of December 2011. ;)

Curses, foiled again.... :) I have lived in Europe before yet I always, sadly, forget different date formats...sigh

I'll just stick with "when it is ready" then
