I don't see that as an issue. In the unlikely event that setfont goes doolally you could always pass 'nomodeset' on the kernel parameters, or if all else failed boot from the install cd, mount the rootfs and chmod -x rc.font from there.

Eliloconfig always creates an initrd entry in /boot/efi/EFI/Slackware/elilo.conf and that makes the huge.s fail to boot with "swapper/0 not tainted" as error message.
I need to edit elilo.conf and remove the initrd for huge kernel to boot.

Edit: Looked at eliloconfig and it seems that it only makes the initrd entry if there is an /boot/initrd.gz
Why was there an initrd in boot in a fresh full install?

Did a clean install of slackware-current(Oct. 25th, 32 bit) yesterday using Eric's build script. The box is running very well indeed.
14.1 is going to be an amazing release. :)

Yes indeed.

If there were such a file as /lib/udev/rc.optical-symlinks, could that create a race condition with udev, particularly when rc.M is invoked going from runlevel 1 to runlevel 3?
/lib/udev/rules.d/60-cdrom_id.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules

Code:

# Run rc.udev again.  This will start udev if it is not already running
# (for example, upon return from runlevel 1), otherwise it will trigger it
# to look for device changes and to generate persistent rules if needed.
if grep -wq sysfs /proc/mounts && grep -q tmpfs /proc/filesystems ; then
if ! grep -wq nohotplug /proc/cmdline ; then
    if [ -x /etc/rc.d/rc.udev ]; then
      /bin/sh /etc/rc.d/rc.udev start &
    fi
  fi

/lib/udev/rules.d/60-cdrom_id.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules

The file was there because udev wasn't making any links, and its purpose was to do what udev was supposed to do. If udev had actually tried to race it I don't think it would have mattered who won. ;)

Pat, what's the purpose of that "grep -q tmpfs /proc/filesystems" check? To the best of my knowledge udev uses devtmpfs rather than tmpfs, and it's going to be hard to find a kernel these days that doesn't include tmpfs anyway so it kind of seems a little pointless. Is this just some historical check that no longer makes any sense?

One suggestion ,please add wmCalClock package, because WindowMaker don't have any clock or calendar app/support

eliloconfig should have an error message if there is no /boot/efi or /mnt/boot/efi

Operator error. It's a feature: both wget and filezilla strip all executable bits. `wget --recursive --preserve-permissions` does indeed preserve 755 permission on SlackBuilds.

Hello,

I plan to install slackware64 14.1 on a fresh new disk with a GPT partitionning. Since I'm new to GPT, I tried a virtualized install with VirtualBox. All went well, but I encountered something strange with liloconfig after installation:

I tried to re-create file /etc/lilo.conf from scratch with liloconfig (I don't remember why I wanted to do that...). I launched it, selected "Begin | Start LILO configuration with a new LILO header", entered the required data, and I selected "Linux | Add a Linux partition to the LILO config". At this point I was stuck, there's no dialog "SELECT LINUX PARTITION".

However, at install time, this dialog was there.

So, I looked at this, and this is liloconfig which, to get the list of linux partitions, uses the command /sbin/probe at install time, and the command fdisk when slackware is installed. But, as fdisk does not support GPT, liloconfig fails to get a list of partitions, and there's no dialog "SELECT LINUX PARTITION".
