Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Thanks to Pat and the whole Slackware team! Congrats on an awesome release. Everything is (and has been) working great here on my systems. Thanks also to all the contributions who sent in bug reports, posted here on LQ etc. It's great to see strong community involvement in helping the BDFL and team craft one helluva stable release.
I raise a mug of homebrew in your general direction! :-)
Hooooorrraaaayyyyyy !!!!!! For the slackware team!!!!
Hooooooorrrraaaaaaayyyyy for mr. Volkerding!!!!
Long live to mr. Volkerding !!!!!
Long live to the slackware team !!!!!!!!
I couldn't have said it better myself! This is exactly how I feel!
A most hearty congratulations to Pat, the Slackware team, and all the contributors to this release!
(Now, guess who's going to be doing some downloading and seeding today... )
We've done our best to bring the latest technology to Slackware while still maintaining the stability and security that you have come to expect. Slackware is well known for its simplicity and the fact that we try to bring software to you in the condition that the authors intended.
You might still see the odd error from the torrents because we usually run 3 Torrent servers. Currently only one is set up for 14.0 but we should have the other two up soon.
And while you're at the Slackware Store buying your copy of Slackware 14.0 don't forget to grab a couple of the new T-shirts. We think they are awesome and you never know, it may be the last chance you get to buy a T-shirt
Saw the announcement tonight in email and am looking forward to trying it out. Out of curiosity from the time of the announce letter does anyone know when to expect the DvDs to be shipped if you are a subscriber to Slackware Store?
