Question Slackware 13.37 - /etc/lilo.conf changes not working

Hi Again,

I'm trying to speed up my boot time. First, Lilo waits 2 minutes to select Slackware to load (it's the only OS). And when it does load, it does the

thing.

On my other laptop, I changed the timeout to 1 second, and added "compact" to lilo.conf and it sped up immediately, but on this second laptop, any changes do not seem to take affect after reboot.

I also commented out the prompt for os option and that didn't have an affect either; it still prompted, waited 2 minutes, and did the loading linux..... thing.

Does anyone know why my lilo.conf changes are not taking affect?

Thanks.

You have to run the command
Code:
lilo
after making changes to /etc/lilo.conf

I've seen you around a lot of posts, and have download a lot of things per your suggestions. I feel honored that your have replied to my second post

As for this thread, it worked like a charm. Not sure why I didn't require that on my other laptop, but I'll run it just in case.

Thank you very much
