Slackware 12 - How do I change soundcard defaults?

I have slack 12.0 and I'm using KDE.
I have a sis 7012 as the laptop soundcard and a speedlink medusa 5.1 usb headset (external soundcard).
The thing is, I want to make the headset soundcard default, or use it, every time I plug it in.
I have a read the alsa FAQ026, and used that solution, but when I did it, the X said it couldn't find the driver. I do know that the driver for the headset is the snd-audio-usb, but how do I say to sound.conf or .asoundrc where the driver is?
Help is greatly appriciated.
Cheers.

I added /sys/bus/usb/drivers/snd-usb-audio/ location to the players configuration, but now it says "device busy" :|
