Slackware 12 and beryl

At first i installed slackware 12 on my machine,,
than i enabled 3d graphics on my nvidia gforce 7600 GT whit the *.run script drivers nvidia has downloadable,, totally no problem. and has eaven an updater inside that script --update that downloads when new drivers are availible.. almost perfect.

than i installed beryl core, beryl manager and so on
whit slackware tgz files i found of the latest beryl whit pkgtool
core
manager
settings
aquamarine
emerald
and so on,,

but
when i wanted to run beryl
it does not work..
it perfectly uses the crash handler beryl has and goes back on kde menager

so i deleted beryl and all of it's packages to completely redo this installation,,
i rebooted..

now my composite menager kde does not work propaly anymore,,
on every screen i am missing the arrount frames of the opened screens,
like shell or firefox..

and i cant use my keyboard anymore.

it does not give any error. so my question is..

what could this be doing??????

thank you.

First, Beryl is outdated -- it is now included as plugins in Compiz-Fusion (if you want the nifty effects, try Compiz Fusion and not the old Beryl). As for the frames problem, you need to replace kwin as the window decorator. In a terminal, type `kwin --replace`. This may be a more difficult task than it looks since your keyboard isn't working properly. I've found that trial and error with opening terminals and attempting to type was the only solution when compiz screwed up the window decorations. There is, however, a solution. Assuming you're booting in runlevel 3 (ie you start from a console), switch to another VT by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 (or F#, where # is any number from 2 to 6). Log in (I think you can log in as your normal user, but I can't remember) and type `DISPLAY=:0.0 kwin --replace`. If you're using runlevel 4 (ie you start with a graphical interface), I think it opens ONE console just in case (but I'm not sure if it's console 2 or 6 or some other number). So play around with Ctrl+Alt+F# until you get to a console and do as stated above.

Then you can go back to your graphical X Windows session by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7 (or some other F#...) and all *should* be restored. Good luck.

yes, its difficult task to type commands when you can't type at all.
so i gone to root and deleted and recreated that user whit usermanagement.

so clean user to start again.

You could have tried typing `DISPLAY=:0.0 kwin --replace` into another console as I stated above...
