slackware 12.2 and zoneinfo

I would like to install a security system using zoneinfo software. I was at the zoneinfo website and they recommended using Slackware 12.2 (instead of the Slackware 12 I already have.) I am not very familiar with the hardware I will have to purchase. Can someone suggest an appropriate 'capture card' and camera to purchase? The house is unattended for relatively long periods of time. I would like items that are reliable and need little attention.

Thank you.

hello I a have a cheap very old USB cam that uses the gspca driver v4l1 12.2 uses the 2.6.27 kernel that has v4l2 in it. so you must either build v4l1 from slackbuilds and install it. or just buy any new cam. My old one caught my Maid steeling 250 dollars out of the desk. I use a command line program call motion it records when some one walks around or moves.
hope this helps. the program is very simple you just cd to an directory you want to save your photos in and run in a terminal motion
hope this helps. it is up to you to choose a cam I am cheep so I use the cheap ones.
