Smile Slackware 12.1 dma for hd and cdrom config

Hello,

I tried to install slackware 12.1, and dma isnt enabled. Found out that the hugesmp.s file needs a few parametres. This is how I started it:

boot: hugesmp.s hda=noprobe hdc=noprobe libata.atapi_enabled = 1

This works great, install of 12.1 takes 15 minutes instead of an hour( yeah, I actually waited an hour the first times I did it ).

Thing is, I was told that fstab needs a little configuration after, and so does lilo.conf. I found the two files. Actually, fstab is empty after the setup, and lilo.conf just aint there.

So I reboot, and of course, it wont boot, says an error at kernel level. So if I cant boot, I cant edit the files. I can pop in the cd of 12.1, boot with it, and as root, edit the files with vi. But again, when I do this, the fstab file is empty and lilo.conf isnt there.

How do I make these changes so that 12.1 can boot with sda and sdc instead of hda and hdc? The goal to this is so I can install gsb-stable, cause I'm unable to install gsb-current, I get errors when I boot after I upgrade the glib2 file, I cant even reach the slapt-get --install gsb-complete stage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Viva Slackware.

Hum, maybe I forgot something? Is it supposed to be like this?:

boot: hugesmp.s append="hda=noprobe hdc=noprobe libata.atapi_enabled=1"

Well, one way to find out. See you guys in two hours. Gotta reinstall...

Yup, there we go. After I pass the info to the kernel, when you install, you're asked to pass them again. You enter the advanced lilo config, choose your sda to boot, and there we go.

Well, I guess if I got this problem solved alone, I could go a long way finding my answers with Slackware. You guys have no clue how happy I feel with Slackware. Thanks so much for such a great OS.

Cheers,
