Best read I've had in a long time:

http://www.slackware.com/announce/12.0.php

Correction, this is:

ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar..._AND_HINTS.TXT

Quote:
The Slackware kernels now include support for the "magic SysRQ key."
Now I can use "Raising Skinny Elephants Is Utterly Borring"

Just read "changes and hints," no mention of the new Emacs version.

Let's hope it shows up in the changelogs soon like Firefox 2 did after Slackware 11 was released.

Oh well. I'm planning on putting Slackware 12 on my Laptop, but I think I'll order the DVD and wait until I get it to dive in.

Regards,

-Drew

For a full install will CDs 1-3 suffice?

Yes, or you could just get CDs 1 and 2, if you don't want the KDE international packages or /extra.

Thanks! Will I need /extra to install the kernel modules this time? Do we need to install kernel modules this time, or are the modules included as part of the install?

The modules should be part of the install. There isn't a separate modules package in /extra (presumably because 2.6.21.5 is the latest kernel, so there's no other to be included in /extra or /testing).

Thank you, Nylex:-)
So we won't need to mount our CD after the install to install kernel modules. That makes it simple:-) I'm looking forward to this:-)

Yay, I was fearing that the release could be delayed to late summer when I will be quite busy. I'm going to order my DVD right away (please support the project by ordering official CDs/DVDs, even if you have downloaded and installed SLack 12.0).
