Slackware 11 Upgrade to kernel 2.6 "Kernel Panic"

I tried to compile the 2.6.17.13 kernel on slackware 11.0 and after reboot
it says

Code:
Kernel Panic - not syncing: I/O error reading memory image
Does anyone know why or what i can do about it?

I have no idea, I'm very new to this. I just followed the Kernel compile guide by DaOne.
