Slackware 10 mouse configuration issues

Hey all. I am having an issue and Im hoping someone can help me out. Last night I installed Slack 10 on my computer. Everything works fine except for my mouse. When I log into X my mouse stays in the middle of the screen and doesnt move at all. I followed Shilo's advice on the "This is how I do it all" thread in regaurds to the mouse configuration, but still nothing. I have googled and searched tons of forums, but everything I try still doenst help. I m using a Logitech mouse. It has two buttons and a wheel scroller in the middle. It came with my Compaq. I have used it before with Slack 9.1 and FC2 so I know its not the mouse. Its a PS/2 also. This is an example of what my config file looks like. Please keep in mind that Im not using my computer, so Im just abreviating here.

Ident. "Mouse1"
Driver "Mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Ok I hope that enough info. If not, please let me know and Ill try to do better. Thanks.
much love,
nikki

Did you try Option "Protocol" "PS/2" instead of Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" ?

On my system, there is a script to set mouse ' /var/log/setup/setup.mouse ', but it seems to be for gpm though.

hi there,

libranikki, are you sure you edited the correct file??
slack 10 runs with Xorg, so we must talk about xorg.conf ...

i have exact the same setup and it works..

regards

I have tried everything and yes Im sure it was the correct file I edited. I had to do a complete re-install. Once I did that, I reconfigured everything and booted up X and it worked fine. So thanks so much for the help! It's much appreciated.
much love,
nikki
