LinuxQuestions.org - Slackware 10.2 hda2 error on boot

First, I'm very much a linux newbie, so I'll need slightly more instructions, sorry for the inconvienece.

Ok, I just installed Slackware 10.2 and duel booted with XP Pro, very easily.
ran xorgconfig and got KDE to run perfectly however, I have a usb mouse and didn't know how to configure it properly in xorgconfig, but that is another issue.

For some stupid reason I decided to try and run xorgsetup to try and setup my mouse proper, however, it didn't even try to configure my mouse, so I exited and rebooted. I didn't overwrite my previous xorg.conf file but saved the good one to a .backup file, but on reboot because the new xorg.conf (the one I made through xorgsetup) wasn't compatible with my monitor/card etc, it caused a hard drive error.

Ok the boot process detected the error, and asked me to fix it.

This is where I have the problem, because I don't know enough about linux code/script to even attempt the "chdsk". The error message gave me a suggestion, but it didn't work. It went something like this:

"if you have a ext2 type of filesystem try using e2fdsk <code> to scan the disk and fix the problem." I can't remember the exact wording or exact command, but hopefully you get the Idea.

How can I "chdsk or scandsk" (win/dos commands) in linux in order to fix the problem i created.

I think I basically need to delete the xorg.conf and replace it with xorg.conf.backup, but I'm not too sure.
