slackware 10.2 and gnumeric

Hi all,
I am very happy with my slack 10.2, but I could use some more tools to get some plots done. I've browsed the KDE-apps and found some apps that solved the problem for a while but I need to get "serious" now.
I was suggested to use gnumeric, but so far it has proven to be a pain to get installed... :S

I have followed this

For simplicity, I have downloaed these packages:
Quote:

gconf-2.6.2-i486-1.tgz
gnome-keyring-0.2.1-i486-1.tgz
gnumeric-1.2.13-i486-1.tgz
libbonobo-2.6.2-i486-1.tgz
libbonoboui-2.6.1-i486-1.tgz
libgnome-2.6.1.1-i486-2.tgz
libgnomeprint-2.6.1-i486-1.tgz
libgnomeprintui-2.6.1-i486-1.tgz
libgnomeui-2.6.1.1-i486-1.tgz
orbit2-2.10.2-i486-1.tgz
and did as he said:
Quote:

There was one library that took me a while to find: libgsf-gnome-1.so.1. It was in libgsf-1.9.1-i486-1.tgz in the "l" directory. I did NOT run installpkg on it, since that would have overwritten /usr/lib/libgsf-1.so. Instead, I used tar to extract libgsf-gnome-1.la and libgsf-gnome-1.so.1.9.1 from the tgz file, put them in /usr/lib, created libgsf-gnome-1.so.1 as a soft link to libgsf-gnome-1.so.1.9.1 and created libgsf-1.so.1 as a soft-link to the existing libgsf-1.so.* library (in Slackware 11.0, this is libgsf-1.so.114.0.1.
but it didnt work. At the moment my console talks to me and says:

Quote:

gnumeric: error while loading shared libraries: libgnome-2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Ideas? :study:
I am thinking about installing Freerock Gnome. That should solve my 'problem', right?

Thanks and sorry for the long post...

What about your error message? Does /usr/lib/libgnome-2.so.0 exist? It should be a symbolic link pointing at libgnome-2.so.0.$version

It looks like you need to install libgnome

You may find www.amigolinux.org helpful for getting Gnumeric installed and running. It has packages that are a bit more updated, and tested specifically for getting GNOME compatibility on Slackware. The actual packages you want are at
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/...E-COMPAT-2.10/
