Slackware 10 -2.6.8.1 - Hotplug does not work

My system is a Dell Inspiron 8600 (a centrino laptop) with
Slakware 10
Kernel 2.6.8.1

Hotplug of USB storage devices does not work correctly.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
lsusb always shows the correct devices, but the mount command displays a message like "no such device".

I'm sure to have all the corrects modules installed, 'cause I've never had this problem before with 2.6.5 kernel, and I've used the same .config file.

What can I do?

Sorry for my spaghetti English..

I have problem with 2.6.8.1 with rc.hotplug. It just get stuck at rc.hotplug and refuse to go any further. Some people have no problem with 2.6.8.1. I revert back to 2.6.7 for now. :)

I would agree with this in general. (But, in my case, I needed the Bluetooth to work, so - 2.6.8.1)

I just configured my USB flash card reader (I know it's not the same as "thumb-sticks", but...) I followed this (Flash Memory How-to). Works OK for me.
