I'm trying to install Slackware 10.1 from CDROM onto an older computer. I boot into the first CDROM fine, and at the boot: prompt just press enter to use bare.i After that, I get:
Nothing too special about the hardware:
Duron 800
Abit KTA-RAID
256MB PC133 SDRAM
Voodoo 2000 PCI video
40GB hard drive master on IDE1
HP CD burner master on IDE2
SB Live soundcard
3com net card
Any ideas? I've had Linux running a few years ago on this MB/CPU, at least. I run Slack on my main computer. I've never seen an install stuck here.
You could try also a nfs install as you have another computer that run slackware.
(it may be faster than installing from cdrom also, depending on your net card / network speed)
did you verify the md5sum of the iso files before you burned them? Also, it's best to burn CDs at the slowest speed you can to ensure data integrity, especially when you're burning something as sensitive as an OS

no ieee , etc...?
I guess I'll try some options next. It's pretty standard hardware, though, so I don't know what I would try.

I have verified the md5sum, and I already installed once from these CDRs, so I think they're OK.
I think the next thing I'll try is booting from floppy. I'd like to find some details on the Slack installer. Like, what does "Ready" mean, and what does it do after that?
