Slackware 10.0 Boot problem.
This is my first Slackware install and I loved the install smooth as can be. I orignally had Debain installed, so I kept my disk partitions that were used with Debian installed. Before I installed slackware I reformated each partition, not sure if I repartitioned the boot partition or not. Anyway when the system boots now I get the following error
then the system does nothing. I didn't make any rescue floppy disks but have the install CD's I figured they would be just as good as a floppy, i'm not sure if that is true or not. Here is how my partitions are layed out.
Device
/dev/sda1 boot
/dev/sda2 extended
/dev/sda5 swap
/dev/sda6 linux
is there a simple way to boot from the CD then fix it so the system will boot from the SCSI hardrive properly?

Thats what I thought, I know Debian uses GRUB and since I left the origanl partitons it prolly is left from Debian. Like I said I didn't make rescue floppies, so how do I install LILO? Is there a way to do it off of the install CD's, can I download a rescue floppy disks somewere?

I'm pretty sure I know what happened, the only way I know to fix the problem is to repartion the drive and do a fresh install. I'm sure there was another way, but I'll just do a fresh install and tell it to install LILO into the MBR.

I think I tried that...Didn't have any luck. I couldn't seem to find the liloconf program. I have repartitioned the drive and resinstalled slackware and this time told it to install LILO into the MBR and didn't have any problems this time. Thanks to all for you input.

Hopefully you haven't done that yet. This ain't windows ;-)
Boot off the install cd. Right above the boot prompt it tells you how to boo your root partition. Then run liloconfig or edit your/etc/lilo.conf and make sure boot = /dev/hda to install it to mbr. after editing it be sure and run lilo.

I'll mark that one down in my notes, but yes I did already do that...the reinstall took very little time and I kinda wanted to redo the partions anyway. Thanks for your advice though . BTW trust me I know this isn't windows...Thats why I'm here.
