Slackware '-current' '/usr/share/pci.ids' file is dated

The newer '/usr/share/pci.ids'; Quote:
This will aid you in understanding recognized devices while troubleshooting. No harm but a convenience to have a current ID file. Changing this file for any distribution that has a dated '/usr/share/pci.ids' will aid you in diagnosis by providing the assigned manufacture ID name. :hattip: |
My version in -current is 2010-01-28.
And, the link didn't work for me. However, I do have two downloads going at the moment, so that may be the reason it couldn't find the url. Then again, thanks for the info - I did not know of this. :) |

there is also a script that does that. update-pciids (part of pciutils package) and also update-usbids (part of usbutils package). |

Hi,
It's nice to have an updated '/usr/share/pci.ids' if you change your hardware frequently. Just a convenience to have instead of 'unknown device' tag for output. :hattip: |
