Slackpkg upgrade question

Hi everybody, I've using slackware 11 for 3 months and it's great. I heard about a great tool called slackpkg so I installed it from slackware extra.

If I want to be updated in slackware 11 -just stay in the stable branch of slack, Do I just need to upgrade from /patches of from /slackware?.

As far as I'm concerned the righ commands are
# slackpkg update
# slackpkg upgrade patches

or..

# slackpkg upgrade slackware ???

Thanks in advance

Just do
:$ slackpkg update
:$ slackpkg upgrade-all

This will sync your system to the server's fileset, as is currently set for Slack 11.0
Just set up your slackpkg.conf file, adjust your mirrors file, and presto
You can read more details on the man page: 'man slackpkg' in a console.

To upgrade a 10.2 system up to 11, wouldn't you also have to install a few packages that are new to 11?

Yes, which is why upgrading without reading Changelog.txt, CHANGES AND HINTS.TXT, and UPGRADE.TXT, is not recommended.

Upgrading without following the instructions in those files will generally get you an unusable system.

Where does it say he's upgrading from 10.2? I think he just wants to stay uptodate with any patches for 11.0. Still a good idea to subscribe to the slackware security list to see if there are any special instuctions.
