Unhappy slackpkg upgrade-all removed my main applications

hello,
A big catastroph in my computer,
I'm running slackware current

Yesterday after finding a security update for thunderbird 3.1.4 in my mail, as I've suscribed to receive newsletter.

So I run the slackpkg update
and then a slackpkg upgrade-all.
During this process I had a message asking me what to do with duplicated libraries of old versions for :
firefox
thunderbird
seamonkey
R Remove
S Skip
B Blacklist
So I decided to remove old versions.

Since that all shortcuts for these applications have disapeared from my desktop.
the commands for these programms don't work.
And the menus have gone from the kickoff application launcher.

Wink Do I have to reinstall Mozilla ?

Do I have to reinstall them
Or are they still in my computer and I don't know where and how to run them.
For the moment I'm running
Konqueror as web browser
and Kmail as client for mail

ls -l /var/log/packages/mozilla* will show if they're still installed. Or, you can pop open a terminal and enter 'firefox' and see what happens.

I can't offer any advice on either slackpkg or your kde desktop shortucts/menu as I use neither.

This is the konsole answer for ls -l:
Quote:
ls: cannot access /var/log/packages/mozilla*: No such file or directory
And for firefox
Quote:
bash: firefox: command not found
Obviously, the program has been deleted during my upgrade.

How can I "slackpkg" it ?

Yep, it does look like it's been uninstalled then. No idea why/how that would happen, but as I said, not an slackpkg expert.

Why don't you try a "slackpkg install mozilla-firefox" and see what happens.

Failing that, you could always download them manually and use installpkg

Red face ftp.wh8.tu-dresden.de

Finally I reinstalled firefox and thunderbird.
I found the *.txz in the ftp miror of slackware site in title.
/pub/linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-current/slackware/xap

I was very happy to discover that all the setup of these programs were saved and still in my computer.
