slackpkg updated from current
Hi im new with linux and im trying slackware. i updated a 12 to current and it seems i lost all configurations. the startx command displays "error while loading shared libraries libffi.so.6 cannot open shared file. can you give me a hint what to do

You can not use slackpkg to do a jump-upgrade. Slackpkg will be able to upgrade from one version to the next. You should have gone 12.0 > 12.1 > 12.2 > 13.0 > 13.1 > 13.37 > 14.0 > current.
That is an effort which I myself would not undertake. In your case, the best option is a full re-install of Slackware. You are missing too many packages which have been added to Slackware inbetween all those years. Eric |
