slackpkg trouble

i've got slackpkg sync'd with the latest available for 10.2 but for eg search slackpkg search x11 | grep 6.8.2 it will only bring up x11-6.8.2-i486-3 and not the latest available in the slackware 10.2 patches directory, which is x11-xdmx-6.8.2-i486-6_slack10.2

i've got the latest slackpkg from current installed but i would like to keep the rest of the system up to date with whatever is available for 10.2

but the issue basically is slackpkg does not pick up any new packages with 10.2 in the package name, as above.

any help in resolving this issue is greatly appreceiated.

thanks in advance.

yeah, this was after running 'slackpkg update'. I've tried searching google could not find anything specific about the issue. And this is not the only time I've come acrros this, coz it has happened previously but then I manually downloaded the packages and got them upgraded. But this time there are quite a lot of packages that needs updating.

I just tried it myself and you're right. I've got latest x11 packages but it's telling me to upgrade from x11-6.8.2-i486-6_slack10.2 --> x11-6.8.2-i486-3. Which is a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Normally I use slackpkg for upgrading to current so I've never come accross this before.

well, so i'm not the only one... maybe it's because most people use slackpkg sync'd with current and not 10.2 or 10.1.

But i'm still surprised that i cannot find anything on google regarding this issue.

This looks like a bug which should have been fixed in the latest slackpkg version (which will come with Slack-11).

You can grab it here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=70572

Just download the latest (2.08) version and upgradepkg.

(Note that the new "install-new" feature is meant to be used with Slack-current).

If it doesn't help, try giving Piter Punk a bug report (his e-mail is in the slackpkg homepage)

From the changelog:
Code:
2006 Thu Aug 17
---------------
	- Revert the "typo fix" and now "Formating" is "Formatting" again.
	- A little fix in install-new to better handler the newer packages
	- Big fixes in new priority check
