slackpkg isn't finding any packages

I'm a new user for slackpkg, but it doesn't seem to be locating any of the requested packages, which I can verify exist by visiting Slackbuilds.org. For instance:

Code:

# slackpkg install insync

Looking for insync in package list. Please wait... DONE

No packages match the pattern for install. Try:

        /usr/sbin/slackpkg reinstall|upgrade

# slackpkg install jedi

Looking for jedi in package list. Please wait... DONE

No packages match the pattern for install. Try:

        /usr/sbin/slackpkg reinstall|upgrade

# slackpkg install org-mode

Looking for org-mode in package list. Please wait... DONE

No packages match the pattern for install. Try:

        /usr/sbin/slackpkg reinstall|upgrade

Slackware 14.2 - is there a setting I am missing somewhere? I picked a mirror that seemed to connect with no problems, but I did no other configuration.

slackpkg is not intended to work with SlackBuilds.org, but rather packages from the base Slackware system. In fact, SlackBuilds.org hosts build scripts, not packages. I suggest you read these pages:

https://slackbuilds.org/howto/
https://docs.slackware.com/slackware:package_management
https://docs.slackware.com/slackware:slackpkg

Wow I'm sorry, I totally misunderstood. I've used SlackBuilds for all my Slackware package needs, I know how it works - I thought slackpkgs was an implementation of those build scripts.

Anyway, thanks for setting me straight!

If you are looking for an automated tool for SlackBuilds.org, you might want to check out sbopkg or sbotools.

There's a few programs that will interact with SBo. sbopkg, slpkg, sbotools, slackrepo, and probably others I'm forgetting (sorry to any I forgot).

You can also configure slackpkg+ (an unofficial extension to slackpkg to allow 3rd-party package repos) to use slackonly, which is a repo that uses slackrepo to build all the SlackBuilds on SBo.

Emacs comes with org-mode these days.

Not related - I just wanted to point out that it wasn't finding *any* packages, so I found a few random ones to demonstrate. As pointed out, of course they weren't found because slackpkg only looks at the Official Slackware packages, not SBs.
