Slack64 Multi-Lib – VirtualBox OSE

System:
Slack64-C Multi-Lib with VirtualBox 3.0.10 OSE

Q's:
1)
Will the Mac OX 10.”whatever” install on this version of VirtualBox?

2)
Will XP on VirtualBox detect a Hauppauge PVR card and have full function?

Thanks!

Why multi-lib?
Why OSE?

That I can't answer but it is unlikely.

Nope the VM does not expose PCI devices only USB ones and the OSE version can't even do USB.

“Why multi-lib?”
I use LightScribe, GoogleEath, & Wine to run Quicken.

“Why OSE?”
It's whats on the SlackBuilds site and it was easy to build & install...

Re: 1)
Just a curiosity, I wanted to see what all the Mac noise was about as I have never even been in the same room with a Mac.

Re: 2)
Well, I guess I'll leave the card on my Windahs box.

Thanks 4 the reply!

On the OSE version, no. But if you download the binary from the VirtualBox website (just get the All Distributions / AMD64 version: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...inux_amd64.run ) you can use your USB devices on the guest machine.

You may need to add a line to your etc/fstab file to get the USB part working properly. I ended up needing a line like this to set the group permissions.

none /sys/bus/usb/drivers usbfs devgid=103,devmode=664 0 0

where group id 103 is the usb group which my user belongs.

I run across another way to enable USB on VirtualBox 3.0.10. “closed source”

Add to /etc/rc.d/rc.S:
/sbin/mount -v usbfs /proc/bus/usb -t usbfs -o devgid=10,devmode=0664

Add user to:
wheel
vboxusers

In VirtualBox Control Panel:
Set Network to
“Bridged Adaptor”
&
Check both boxes in the USB section.

Works good on my box, hope I didn't bork anything.
