slack64.bmp

Please verify the following.

In your Slackware ( 13 or 13.1 or even current ) install, go to /boot and open slack64.bmp ( with Kolourpaint or equivalent ).

Now use the 'Flood fill' tool to make the black background white or any other contrasting color.

Do you see it?

Someone manually did the 010000 edit, whiped something under ' OS Selection ' and there was some work on the lower right section of the screen. Or is it just me?

That was me ;-)
When Slackware64 was still a secret I came to the point that I had to build a lilo package and thought it would be nice to have a boot screen that looks different than the default for 32-bit.
So, I loaded the bitmap in gimp, messed around with the eraser and added the "01 00 00 00". Quick and dirty, meant as a joke (it said "Slackware X80" before) but the bitmap kind of stuck and now it's still there.

Thing is: I was suprised, but in a good way: " Ha, even the Slackware developers are real human beings who tend to struggle with JPEG compression artifacts in Bitmaps ". I'm quite happy to notice that it's not just me.

Personally I'm very fond of using 'xxx-Paint' for simple graphics; GIMP is a bit to chunky to do some simple editing don't you think?
