After I installed Slack 11 with huge26.s boot image (kernel 2.6.17.13) I type uname -r and it returns 2.4 the same error is happening at Slack 10.1 but with kernel 2.4.26 and 2.4.29. The only thing in comom is that these errors have happening at the same machine.
Any comment about the uname -r keeps returning a different version of kernel?
because you're running a 2.4.x kernel. Did you remember to update '/etc/lilo.conf' and then run '/sbin/lilo' ?
EDIT: I guess I'm always a little late (it's cuz I open up many tabs in FF and get to them consecutively, so it doesn't update in time, and someone already posted ... oh well)

I tried to install on more time and the same error happened again but what I canīt get is that this error is happening just with ONE machine, I repeated the installation process at home and worked so on.
At this time I installed the Slack 11 with the huge26.s kernel image and kernel 2.4.33 source and modules. After the first boot I installed the source and modules of kernel 2.6.17.13 but anything changed but what really anoys me is that when I type "uname -r" it returns "2.4.26"....
If uname says you are running a 2.4 kernel you __ARE__ running a 2.4 kernel and lilo loaded it. As all ready stated
either you did not install a 2.6 kernel or you did and did not update and rerun lilo.
I had a similiar problem with my setup. Even though I told the Slack installer to install the huge.26 kernel, it still installed the default scsci.i 2.4 kernel. Not sure if it is a bug in the installer or what. I ended up download the huge.26 kernel, System.map, and its .config file from one of the official Slack FTP mirrors. You can find those files in the appropriate kernel directory.
Then I downloaded the lastest 2.6.x kernel source and compiled my own kernel.
