I had downloaded 6 iso's from slackware site , can anybody point me what those are represented , which one is to be used as installation purpose ..

I'm stuck ..!!!!!! Very new to slackware, and i found disk2 as something unusual in the sense not used for installation purpose ...

I would recommend that you opt for a full install. This will require CDs 1-3 and will use a little over 4 GB of HD space. A full install will give you a system that will work properly.
Later when you learn more you can customize an install to fit your needs.

This page lists the contents of each of the 6 CDs:
http://slackware.com/getslack/torrents.php
Installing CDs 1 and 2 will give you a system with the XFCE desktop environment. Installing CDs 1, 2, and 3 will also give you KDE. You can leave out the KDEI section if you don't need all the international packages.
CDs 4-6 are source code packages, the packages in extra, and a few other things.

Just start with #1. Depending on the options you select, it will ask you for the others it needs.

Yep. As each CD finishes installing it will pop out, then put in the next one and follow the prompts. Good luck.

Hi,

May not return if the OP does read the screen information.

My money is on that the OP will return. Where's the GUI?

I have old PC which has CD-rom. 6 CD`s was too big for me so i was looking for other distribution. My friend told me, though, that basic install of Slackware will take only 1st CD and i can add the rest what i want later with "slackpkg". Is that true? 1-2 CDs is good too, but i dont want XFCE (fluxbox instead).

You don't need six CDs. Three it's enough if you want KDE. If you don't want KDE you need only first two CDs.

Very true.
I always recommend a full install for new users so that the system will work out of the box with no un-met dependency issues. A new user doesn't need to use KDE, but, a full install is easier for a new user to use or trouble shoot.
After getting used to Slackware they can go in and experiment and remove applications they don't need.
