First before i upgrade to gnome 2.6 i used swaret to upgrade to X.org that went fine. Gnome worked perfectly normal then i decided to upgrad to gnome 2.6 and gdm wont load and then i switch to tty 6 or w/e and load kdm and that works fine but gnome wont load from there either..... i wish i could post a log or something but i dont know what would help us out to figured this issue out... ANyways please? Thanx
Thanx for your reply but that wasnt it i got all my dep installed so it says.....
Evilone: i tried installing dropline gnome before and i had soo much trouble with it. It just doenst like me for some reason. First my computer wouldnt boot up after it was done installing. Then before i upgraded to current it said it was going to check the md5 for missing p[ackages or whatever then it came up with like error curputed and missing and there was like 15 packages the looked mostly like libs. Ill try it again. But if you mind helping me getting it working?
Ok well i tried that and it said that all librarys are there. I dont know what else would cause this type of error i tried googling it andi couldnt find anything. Doesn Anyone know how i would get this working? I hate kde its sooo slow i hate it its gay........
the only thing i can suggest now is to make a list of all the required gnome packages(from the gnome website) and check if everythins is installed or not. I don't now how good an idea is this but I'm pretty sure that you are missing some package which swaret is not able to catch
Ok....ill trythat but first i decided to remove gnome and reinstall it....when i did Swaret --remove gnome I got all of the gnome 2.4 packages and gnome 2.2 packs im thinking both gnome pack are on here and it doesnt know what its doing or there confilting. In Some way so im reinstalling gnome 2.6 and we will see how it goes from here thanx for your help if anyone knows anything else to suggest i try it would be very appreticated Thanx again
Ok someone has to know why this isent working like honestly it is actaully really really annoying........I'm tried to build it manually but its not working......i might just have to reinstall slackware9.0 and just go from there.....anyone else have a better idea please i would really like to hear it im outta suggestions of what to do hehe
Ok well right now im doing swaret --upgrade and im saying yes to everything ill post back to and tell you if it works. But i really dont think it will work. But if it does ill try dropline again...... and if all that doesnt work ill reinstall slack...Thanx for your relpys!!!
It looks like people are addicted to swaret. For gnome, it seems like the easiest way would just be to just remove all the old gnome packages and then install the new ones, *.tgz. I don't really feel any urge to try swaret right now, since it seems kind of untrustworthy. With the basic tools I know exactly what I'm doing.
I just started using Slackware though... installed right after he switched to X.org, so that issue was avoided at least. It was so easy... just downloaded -current onto my windows drive and installed from there with the floppy boot disk. Really happy with Slackware so far.
Ok well i got it working i guess it was sometime stupid with the minor and gtk needing to be reinstalled.... anyways i got dropline-installer installed its soo awsome i love dropline... Thanx for u all of ur help!!!!!!
