Unhappy Slack and installing XFce themes

I installed Slack 9.1 yesterday and I am enjoying it a lot more than RedHat. I am also using XFce for the first time. So both are defiantly a step up!

My problem, however, is installing new themes for XFce. I downloaded a couple from freshmeat.net and according to their article themes are managed by the program xfskin.

I don't have that (or at least can't find it), and googling it makes me believe that the reason is because xfskin is outdated (seeing how most of my results deal with version 3.8)

So, is there a newer better way? Should I try to track down an outdated source file? Should I just give up on my quest for skinning? What should I do??? What should I do!?! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Well, at least on my system, you can put them in

/usr/share/xfce4/themes

I'll have to see what the syntax is for user themes. Probably underneath

~/.xfce4/themes/

But don't take that for gospel.

But the first one works for sure.

One way to find out things like this is to run the command:

whereis xfce4

and then go to the directories it lists, in turn, and look for a themes directory.

the whereis command works on anything in the path, and a few other things, so you should be able to take this as a generic tip.
