Slack and Compaq

Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone have expirience with Slackware and Compaq laptops. I`ve been searching the forums and the net a bit, I`ve been able to find quite a lot about Mandrake and Red Hat.
The problem I have is the power management, ACPI. I can`t enable it.

The sites I`ve seen talks about modifying a Mandrake kernel, will this be the same as modifying an "ordinary" kernel??

Anyone know a link to this?

to enable ACPI, you have to have ACPI support in your kernel, so... yes it is the same.
