Slack 9 Installation Problem

Hi,

I'm trying to install slackware 9.0 but isn't working and I'm a complete :newbie: to slack. The installation completes, but when I restart all I get is a blank screen when I try to boot Slack. I've also tried booting the system from the installation CD but I just get the regular install. After my 100th install or so I switched over to the 4th console to check the message from the install and saw "mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda2, or too many mounted file systems." Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

What filesystem did you choose to install Slack onto? - Where did you install LILO to?

exodist 08-18-2003 09:24 PM

well, I suppose it is hard to tell if it is booting behind the blank screen, but at the lilo prompt type:
lilo: (label (dfault linux)) vga=normal and see what that does, if that works tell me and I will give you a permanent fix.

explination: slack automatically installs witha 1024x768 frambuffer consol, but a lot of configs do not support it, even my gf4ti4600 on a viap4b400 p4-2.2ghz does not do it, yet my 1ghz gf2go dell laptop does it fine.

Score! It worked, thanks exodist and sky :-)

no problem care to tell us which solution worked?

exodist 08-18-2003 10:44 PM

btw, permanent fix to the typing vga=normal at the lilo prompt is to edit the /etc/lilo.conf file and change vga from 791 to normal

lol yours since it was the only one :-P Yup thanks I already reconfigured LILO
