Slack 9.1 - 2.6.0 kernel - Banshee - glxgears question

My question is merely for opinions on my glxgears speed. That is, do the results look out of whack for my hardware? Do you think I'm missing something which would make an appreciable difference in my performance?

I'm running an Athlon 850 on a GigaByte m/b with 256MB of RAM. In the AGP slot I have a 16MB Diamond Monster Fusion (Voodoo Banshee).

I have Slackware 9.1 running with a freshly compiled 2.6.0 kernel.

Initially, glxgears was giving me about 200FPS.

Then I installed glide_h3_dri-3.10-i386-1.tgz, glide_sdk-3.x-i386-1.tgz and glide_sdk-2.x-i386-1.tgz.

Now my glxgears is running at about 1238FPS. I know it's not fast by modern standards, but does this figure look right considering my hardware?

Thanks, cheers, and happy holidays,
Bob

It doesn't look all that bad for the hardware...I would have guessed (off the top of my head) closer to the 1500 mark, but I think you're in the ballpark. If there are 3rd party drivers out there, I might try them for a comparison, but then other issues may arise as well.

Happy Holidays to you also!!!

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was about right. Just wanted confirmation.

Cheers,
