slack 14 64 wifi issues, looking for some pointers please

As per subject; I've put slackware 14 64 onto a laptop which is a few yars old, a Dual Core Pentium with 1Gb ram and running Xfce it is not as bad I as thought it would be performance wise. Anyway, its not my laptop so was kind of hoping to install and walk away but its giving me some problems, namely with the wifi.

It connects, NM works and so on but every so often, from a few minutes to an hour maybe and the connection drops, now when I say it drops, it still shows as connected in NM but I can no longer ping, even the local network. Disconnecting and reconnecting solves the problem but it happens again a few minutes later.

I can't see anything strange in any of the usual logs, so any help on where to look or how to diagnose this would be greatly appreciated.

For the record, there were no such issued on Win 7 or an older release of Suse.

Thanks as always...

Is this a Dell laptop? If so, it may be an issue with Broadcom wifi drivers. I've had this issue on all my Dells using Slackware and other GNU/Linux distributions. Read more about it here (the solution) and here (the entire thread).

Luck!

~Eric

P.S. This may be helpful, too.
