Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

What can I do to fix this problem ?
Is something wrong with ALSA ?
When I do "man ALSA" there is no alsa.
excerpt from 'man alsaconf';
alsaconf - configuration tool for the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
This manual page documents briefly the alsaconf command.
Alsaconf is a simple shell script which tries to detect the sound cards on your system and writes a suitable configuration file for
ALSA. It will try to guess what GNU/Linux distribution you're running, and will act accordingly to the standards of that distribution,
if specific support is available.
Alsaconf will write a module-init-tools (or modutils) snippet which can be then used by module-init-tools (or modutils) to load the cor-
rect parameters for your sound card.
alsamixer(1), amixer(1), aplay(1), arecord(1)
excerpt from 'man alsamixer';
alsamixer - soundcard mixer for ALSA soundcard driver, with ncurses interface
alsamixer is an ncurses mixer program for use with the ALSA soundcard drivers. It supports multiple soundcards with multiple devices.
Setup 'alsa' for your system via 'alsaconf' then set the mixer settings with 'alsamixer'.
You can save the mixer settings with 'alsactl store';
excerpt from 'man alsactl';
alsactl - advanced controls for ALSA soundcard driver
alsactl [options] [store|restore|init] <card # or id or device>
alsactl is used to control advanced settings for the ALSA soundcard drivers. It supports multiple soundcards. If your card has features
that you can't seem to control from a mixer application, you have come to the right place.
Thank you OneBuck. After running alsaconf and setting it to ICE1712 my
initial problem is solved. Jack Control starts.
So I'm going to mark this one as solved and asked a different question.
Thank you !
