Hi All.
I'm running a Slack 13.1 server that is acting as my gateway/wireless router. I'm using the pppoe software that came with the distro, and have configured the firewall using the firewall-masq file in the /etc/ppp dir.
DHCP setup on the wireless card, works great for my internal network blah blah blah.
I opened up the internal interface in the firewall file, to let me use the server as a test/filesharing box - that works fine.
But here's the issue that is giving me grief:
I can not ping/trace/wget or anything from the server itself - my resolv.conf is proper and all the client machines have no problem. I opened up the proper ports for DNS on the external interface, and now I get name resolution from the server, but when I try to ping or trace or run a wget it always times out. I disabled rp_filter thinking that might be the culprit, but no such luck. I'd like to run one of my domains on the box but without the reverse working it's not really possible using any dynamic client.
I can get to the box from outside if I have the ip addy - ssh etc. And apache will not load, and the error logs are singularly unhelpful.
I'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions.
Thanks!
