slack 12: Crash in KDE sound system
I was about to post this as a question, but
as i just stumbled on the solution, here it goes:
The first time i tested my new Slackware 12,
the KDE sound system crashed with a SIGSEGV.
Fortunately this problem was not too hard to solve:
In the KDE "Settings" menu, selected
Sound & Multimedia -> Sound System
Selected the "Hardware" tab
and changed the item
"Select the audio device"
from
Autodetect
to
Advanced Linux Sound System
Reenable the sound system and voila:
The sound is now working fine!
I figure that KDE sound system had some trouble
autodetecting my CM8738 with ALSA. I wonder if
anyone else had this kind of problem.
