Slack 12.2 to 13 upgrade - now double vision via remote desktop

I upgraded one of my boxes from Slack 12.2 to 13 (actually, I wiped it and did a clean install of Slack 13...). Now, when I remotely connect to the desktop of the Slack 13 box, I see double vision and color blotches. It doesn't matter what client/viewer I use to connect, nor does it matter if the client is running Windows or Linux. With Slack12.2 and KDE 3.x, it works fine, with Slack 13 and KDE 4.x, It does this.

Additionally, the mouse as displayed on the remote desktop is way off from where the mouse really is.

The Slack 13 box has a FoxConn K7S741GXMG-6L, Sempron 2400+, video is onboard SIS 741 series chipset.

I've not yet found anyone else reporting this - any ideas? (I tried sobering up - didn't help)

FWIW...I removed KDE4 and installed KDE-3.5.10, and the problem went away. I'm guessing the kde4 version of remote desktop server is somehow causing this, but I didn't have time to troubleshoot further - I had to get this working. Dang...guess I'll have to stick with KDE3 ;-)

What server does KDE (3.5.10 and/or 4) use? I presume a VNC server?
