Slack 12.1 - Digikam

Hi,
I've been fightin' with Digikam for two days now.
I installed all 8 pkgs from SlackBuilds and could not even 'find' digikam much less start it.
Heres the pkgs I installed:

sqlite-3.5.8-i486-1_SBo.tgz
libkexiv2-0.1.6-i486-1_SBo.tgz
libkipi-0.1.5-i486-1_SBo.tgz
libkdcraw-0.1.3-i486-1_SBo.tgz
jasper-1.900.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
libgphoto2-2.4.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
exiv2-0.16-i486-1_SBo.tgz
digikam-0.9.3-i486-1_SBo.tgz

There were no icons on the menu and it wasn't in /usr/bin

I ran whereis on each of the packages and got no locations for digikam & libkexiv2.
They did however show up in pkgtool so I figgerd they were no good and removed them.
I then tried to make them with src2pkg and that didn't work either.

Next I installed libkexiv2 from source and then installed the digikam SlackBuild. No luck.

Next I removed the digikam SlackBuild and reinstalled it from source. Now Digikam & ShoFoto works perfect.

I googled this for Slack 12.1 and couldn't find anything specific to Slack 12.1 and nuthin' on the LQ search for 12.1 either. So from that I concluded that I'm the only one doing it wrong somehow.

My question:
Was I supposed to interact in some way with the affected SlackBuilds??
I read the READMEs and thought I was doing it right but I'm new to Slack and screw stuff quite often.

Thanks in advance.

Glad they worked for you ... Alien Bob and Tinkster have kept me
going in Slackware all the times I "hit the wall". I know about
Digikam specifically cause he built it to help me.
