Slack 12.0 KDE problem

Just installed Slack 12. after clearing out the old slack 11 partition. when i went through the 'xorgconf' i setup everything as it was in Slack 11. However when i run 'Startx' the KDe interface loads but it has vertical bars on the right side and my mouse is off to the left about 2cm than where it actually is on the screen. I have a Radeon Xpress 200M and i have to go in and reset the resolution to the same to clear out the problems. any ideas on what is wrong?
- this is all apart of a HP ZV6000 laptop.
