Slack 11 kernel-generic-2.6.17.13 file sys error during bootup

Hi,

EXT2-fs warning (device hda7): ext2_fill_super: mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.

That's the reported error from dmesg.

Machine is an older, a IBM Thinkpad 600E laptop.

During the Slack 11 install, I formatted hda7 as ext3. In fstab hda7 is listed as type ext3

Does the mentioned 2.6.17.13 kernel from /extra have support for ext3? I thought it does but I might be wrong.

What is causing that error message?

Maybe I didn't install the 2.6.17.13 kernel headers package. Could error be caused by this? (BTW I *do* know better than to ever remove the 2.4 kernel headers package).

The laptop runs excellently otherwise. I've (not yet anyways) detected any other problem other than this error message.

Thanks.

in /boot
Ah, *that's* where that readme is.

I'd looked all over the www mirrors for that readme.

(Hows about having a pointer on the mirrors that points me to my hard drive as in "hey dummy the mkinitrd readme is not here, it's located on your hard drive in the /boot folder".)

I did like the 2nd mkinitrd example in that readme.

And, the error is gone. Works fine.

I had booted it several times with the error. So, I wonder if there is anything else that I need to do? Such as run fsck? (and/or) run what command?

Thanks.
