slack 11 cfdisk partition
hello, here is the setup
hdc - hd of my linux hdc5 - /root of slackware 10.2 hdc6 -/boot hdc7 -/swap hdc8 -/usr hdc9 -/var hdc10 -/tmp hdc11 - /home since they are used .. and i want NOW to install slack 11 using the same partitions.. is it still possible? -- i tested installing slack 11 yesterday.. when i chose the option TARGET - i prompted "where i would like to mount /" so i chose /dev/hdc5 -- NOW after doing so, IT DID Not anymore ask on where i would want to place the other partitions (such as boot, home, usr, var, tmp), the next prompt that i saw is where will i install /etc/fstab - so obviously i will still choose hdc5. after this -- the "install" install slackwre from a CD..etc.appeared. just a verification.. is this because i should first erase the current partitions and install slack 11 in a clean manner OR something is wrong? :( |
As far as I remember (haven't installed Slackware for a few months) it should be possible to reuse the partitions without wiping them out first. I think there's an option in the install menu to set up additional partitions/mount points. Just keep looking!

yes actually i also know that it can be overwritten.. just wondering why it did not ask for another option :(
i have been reading this since yesterday to be sure : http://www.slackbook.org/html/installation-setup.html |
Assuming all those partitions exist, you should have been able to use them. They should all have appeared in the menu.

---on the sidenote i have been reading the link i posted.. AND I KNOW that in the TARGET option I MUST BE ABLE TO SPECIFY the partitions already.. --got to check the process again. |
The setup screens in "TARGET" are:
- Select Linux installation partition - Format partition /dev/sda1 - Select filesystem for /dev/sda1 - Add other partitions - Done adding Linux partitions to /etc/fstab Check http://www.slackbasics.org/html/inst...n.html#fscheck |
