Slack 11 & WinTV Nova-t setup problems

Hi all!
Well it's been a while, after a (another) lenghty stay in hospital i'm finally back to my wonderfull slack box! As a welcome home treat i recieved a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T tv card the problem is i cant get it to work! iv'e tried linuxtv.org but to be honest i'm finding it hard to focus at the moment and their explanations are somewhat confusing.

To be honest, i feel like i'm starting all over with linux, my heads all over the place so i cant even think of what i should post to give you guys some info!?!

Anybody have any tips where i might start?

Thanks,
The Yikes

Is this the card ?

There are instructions on how to install it on there, but, unfortunately, some commands only apply to debian-based distros, notably 'apt-get'. It looks like you need the firmware they suggest, then the v4l source which you will use to build a kernel module (as long as the kernel source is installed properly).

You're in the hospital again ? Sorry to hear that. Hope your so far bad luck will change.

Hey H-TeXMex-H,
well iv'e checked the model on the box and it says its a WinTV-NOVA-T model 909. I wonder if the instructions on the page you linked to would work for me?

Was in hospital for tryin to say goodbye life! if ya get me! ;) oh well maybe next time will be then one! :) hahaha!

What didn't you understand about the instructions on linuxtv.org? I got my card set up using their guides (and it's the same as yours, too). I can't remember whether the kernel in 11.0 is configured with support for the card's chipset. If not, you'll need to recompile to include it.
