Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Well, sorry that this is my best answer but I know that if you use a different system such as Windows, you're given the option to merge your Microsoft account with a regular account. You could make a regular account and then merge the Microsoft account with it, then log in on Slackware with the regular account.
The slackbuilds page states that you need libsigcxx, you could always try recompiling the latest version from there. It looks to me that the latest version doesn't have any dependencies aside from that.
My skype is working.
I'm running a 32 bits version of slackware 14; so no multilib is needed.
I downloaded and installed the slackbuild generated package.
I tested on other machine (windows machine) and it worked fine... also, I'm able to log in using my microsoft account on my android phone.. but when i try with skype on this system i get an error saying
"Sometimes internet is sleepy and takes a nap, make sure is up and running then we'll give it another go"
Does anyone know where older skype versions are kept?
Have you raised this issue with the folk at Skype?
I only have a Skype account. My set up is very different to yours - 64 bit multilib. I just merged my MS account to my skype account and logged in fine. Logged out, went back in to microsoft account and logged in again.
I would hazard a guess and say that the problem is their end.
