Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with Skippy-XD, a lightweight window picker that displays all open windows as Compiz can do, except this also works well on low-spec hardware. Here's a three-minute-video about Skippy-XD, so you know what it does:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVRPCd7OS38
Configuring Skippy-XD is relatively simple. First, I defined a new keyboard shortcut in Xfce's paramenters. I tied the "Windows"-key to the following command:
Code:
skippy-xd --activate-window-picker
Then I opened Xfce's session configuration and added this to autostart:
Code:
skippy-xd --start-daemon
I re-logged into Xfce, opened a few random windows, tried out the "Windows"-key, and everything works fine.
Now the problem starts when I try to configure this for another user. Nothing happens, and when I try to launch skippy-xd in a terminal, I get the following error:
Code:
open_pipe(): Failed to open pipe "/tmp/skippy-xd-fifo": 13
And here's the remains of the first user's session:
Code:
$ ls -l /tmp/skippy-xd-fifo
prw------- 1 firstuser users 0 févr. 15 09:05 /tmp/skippy-xd-fifo
My first idea would be to get rid of this file on logout... but how? And maybe there's a better way to go about this.
Any ideas?
Niki
