Simple (maybe) GNOME question

Is there any way in GNOME to make the desktop use a smaller icon size? Right now 12 Icons take up andout 25% of my desktop because the Icons are so big and I'd like them to be about the same size as the ones KDE uses

archlyn, check the control panel, there must be a way to configure that.

Google took me to a post here in linuxquestions:
"To change icon display size in gnome...
open a nautilus window and select "Edit" "Preferences" in the menu.
The first tab is Views. Change the Icon View Defaults to chabge the icon size..."

Search string was: gnome change desktop icon size

gbonvehi:Thanks much! Got me almost there. The option you need to tweak in my case was the Icon zoom, as I discovered using the search terms you provided.

In short: to set the icon size in GNOME:

Open a Nautulus explorer window

Click Edit | Preferences

On the "Icons" tab, adjust the "Default Zoom Level" as needed, in my case I set it from 100% to 75% which suits me just fine.
