Shutdown script wont physically turn off my system...

This problem has been common only to Slack for me, but whenever I call the shutdown script, i.e. 'shutdown -h now', It doesn't actually physically turn off my box. It kills and unmounts everything like it should, but then it just echoes me the message "Power Down", without actually turning off the system. Then I have to actually push the power button to get it to turn off all the way. Every other distribution has been able to completely shut down my system, however Ive never had to use the shutdown script with other distributions.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Good God... this has been answered here a billion times already. If you bothered to actually search you'd find the solution in no time... but since you're too lazy to do that...

Open your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules file and uncomment this line:

#/sbin/modprobe apm

Uncomment means remove the leading # (hash)
