Shutdown problem

Hello everybody out there!
Recently I have installed Slackware 10.2.
I usually shutdown my computer using "halt" command. MMounted filesystem get unmounted and modules get stopped but i receive message "Power Down".Then it stops shutting down; I wait about 15, 30 minutes and it does not shutdown. I must shut it down using power button on my chasis. I hate this!
Please, can this problem be solved?

You must have the apm module loaded into the kernel and use poweroff to shutdown your computer

I do not have APM module support in kernel. Does that mean that I need to recompile my kernel?

I just typed modprobe apm and i typed apm so the apm module is up and running.
When I typed apm to see whether is it running, it says:
AC on-line, no system battery.

Precompiled kernels always provide the most common modules, so you should be set.
Try to shutdown your box by running "poweroff" to see if it works.

Wink bareacpi.i

Hi

Most newer machines have support for ACPI.

You need to install the bareacpi.i kernel instead of bare.i to take advantage of ACPI.

Using bareacpi.i you can power off your machine whitout passing any special parameters and whitout recompiling the kernel.

OK. But the compiled kernel is always the best solution.
