shutdown


Hey! how do you shutdown slackware 9.0 automatically when the computer is powering off. in redhat hat and other linux once you shutdown the computer it power off without having to manually turn it off.

to start x windows is that runlevel 5 or 6 automatically.

mouse to be able to scroll the pages with the mous. ps/2 with track wheel.

You got to load the apm module first.

Find this line in your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules file:
Code:
#/sbin/modprobe apm
And remove the # (hash).

On your next reboot, you should be able to power off.

If you're impatient and would like to test it now then do this as root:

modprobe apm;poweroff

is this in regards to the 'Power Down' or 'Power Off' message that occurs after Slack has shutdown? I usually solve this by making sure the apm kernel module is loaded.

shutdown

AZmeen, i want to thank you for your assistance. I can now power off my computer without having to manually turn it off.
