Should I try to use MTP, and if so, what music app?

I just got a little Sansa Clip and am trying to decide if MTP synchronisation is worth the hassle.

First, is anyone using MTP reliably on Linux? Is it worth the trouble of setting up? I think the auto-sync features would be nice to have, but if support is only partial it's not worth my time. Also, I'm skeptical of the ability to sync to a linux box and a windows box at different times without one overwriting the other.

Second, assuming someone is using MTP, what (xfce-compatible) client application do you prefer? (I'm not really interested in Amarok as so far I've avoided installing anything KDE-based.) Rhythmbox and Banshee both claim MTP support—anyone using these wish to comment?

Thanks—
q.

I have successfully added music using amarok but never had any luck with exaile, to delete files I have had to use gnomad2 - gnomad2 is probably a good bet for adding files, as for the windows thing don't know if that will work as I haven't tried it

I have a 1G Sansa m240 and it uses mpt. Never had any problems with it in amarok. Haven't tried 2.0 yet though. Usually I have to mount it, then connect in amarok and it just works. I'm able to add and remove songs through it.

libmtp has always worked very well for me on the players I have used it with. Usually with Amarok, but as already suggested, Gnomad2 is a very capable tool (though very simplistic compared to Amarok of course).
